I have a movie file (MPG, IIRC) that's a rip from a VCR, so the original picture was 4x3, but--it was ripped to widescreen, so it's widened way out. Is there a Linux program available that can convert it back to 4x3? (I tried ffmpeg, but it consistently quit after processing just a fraction of the movie, and didn't even do that part of it right.)
I'm also looking for something that will let me edit movies: crop a portion I want to keep, cut off start/end bits, stick pieces of movies together, that sort of thing.
