View Full Version : [ubuntu] Can't get SATA300 TX4 (Promise) controller to work...

Before buying this controller, I had read that this worked with Ubuntu. In a way, it does (I can access one of my DVD burners and burn to it). I have two issue I could use some help with:

1. During the boot process, I get the message:

Sec Master Drive - ATAPI Incompatible
Sec Slave Drive - ATAPI Incompatible

2. The system isn't picking up the other DVD burner. I have a power cable
in each drive and a known good SATA cable running from this
controller card to each DVD burner.

I checked www.promise.com and they don't even list Ubuntu as being
supported (only Redhat and SUSE. What's up with that?). So, can I get these issues resolved, when they say they don't support Ubuntu, or do I try another SATA controller card.

I'm running Ubuntu 8.10

Thanks

Andy
