View Full Version : [ubuntu] lenovo y430 - anything i should know before i put 9.04 on it?

hello everyone,

i recently got a new laptop and am waiting for 9.04 to be released so i can dual boot with vista premium. i was wondering if anyone has any experience with this particular laptop and ubuntu, in terms of performance, whether all the components work, and if the laptop goes to and comes out of sleep correctly. here are my specs:

Should be good right from install. Everything is intel. Just know that the GRUB is going to take over your boot.ini. You will use GRUB to select you OS in the begining

anyone have any experience actually installing ubuntu on this specific laptop?

i have been fooled before when hardware is supposed to work doesnt work for me, most likely due to user error.

I can't say for sure about 9.04, but it seems this thing uses some Lenovo only drivers. Its not a typical thing for a laptop to have, so I wouldn't be surprised if the same thing happened.

You wont be able to use the webcam, maybe because there is no driver for it.

If anyone knows anyway around this please help!

Hmm, works out the box on mine. You do know that Fn + Esc enables / disables the webcam

Oh, and the mce remote doesn't work (except the power button for some reason).
