Hello. I am a 3 day old newbie and have opted for ubuntu.

Quick history: Windows has been crashing and have installed it every 6-8 weeks. Have replaced everything throughout the course of a year except for the Sound card, ram, and mobo. Not sure if one of these could have been the problem.

So here I am now.

Today I have decided to reinstall my Audigy 2 ZS Platinum. Well . . .it took a few minutes to get it working, although not sure if it is correct otherwise I would not be here, but I am having trouble with the sound volume. When I dual boot back to windows it sounds just fine, when I am in Ubuntu the volume is at a level 4! The sound should be louder.

Now . . .um . . as for the ver. I am using, it is the new beta. now what is that . . .9.04, or something like that. Anyway, the volume is only one of the problems--getting a movie to play is the other--but I will post that under the proper channel.

Thanks

Update. I have been surfing the net listening to music. I have just noticed audio does not work on web video--youtube, collegehumor, etc.
