hi - after reading a few links to get here (I hope I've covered them all..)

Can someone help with a backport of a new app which is in dapper - into breezy.

dapper : http://packages.ubuntu.com/dapper/kde/vym

Having not actually used the app before - I can't vouch for it - however if it does what i think it does it is a critical app for me in my day to day working - along with advising others who may wish to move to ubuntu -.. who all use mindmanager from a copm called mindjet (who haven't unfort ported to linux.. ho hum).

Anyway the latest ver in dapper is 1.7.0 which wont work in breezy ..

see

..thanks in adv

Have you looked at kdissert, another mindmapping tool, which is available for Breezy? (KDE of course, but I use Kubuntu anyway).

Otherwise it shouldn't be too hard to build from source (DON'T try and use a Dapper deb in Breezy).

Yes , I'm in the process of evaluating it.
So far it looks ok - though not something I'd use all the time - and
yes I do use these mindmaps all the time.

I've just knocked together a vym 1.7.0 deb (using alien on the rpm and tweaking the result) which installs fine on my machine. It's not official, but I can send it to you off-list if you like (size is 853 kb, if you send me an e-mail via the forum I'll get your address to send it to you).
