I'm looking at the Bonobo as a DTR mainly for business purposes, and some videos and music as well. And, the form factor of a laptop is definitively a positive. I'm really interested in the 17" screen, which makes using the screen easier. I'm not a gamer.

Is there any reason to upgrade the machine beyond the basic stock specs? And, if so, what upgrades make sense, and what would eb unnecessary for my purposes?

The stock configuration will definitely handle typical day-to-day / business tasks and then some.

If you will need to run virtual machines, dual boot Windows Vista, play heavy games, edit videos, etc... I'd definitely recommend going up to at least 4GB of RAM and upgrading the CPU a notch or two.
