You guys great deals on laptops, so I'm highly considering getting my next laptop from you. I'm just more of a fan of KDE, so I would probably wipe the system and install KDE from scratch. I just see that your website indicates that some parts (webcam, graphics, etc.) require special drivers to work that apparently come with your default Ubuntu install. Will I be able to get these to work without the drivers on a fresh install of Kubuntu, or possibly even another KDE distro? Or might the drivers work on Kubuntu itself? I am looking at the "Pangolin Performance", if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance.

The System76 Driver will run on Kubuntu and Xubuntu (but not other Linux distros). However, since we do no testing with Kubuntu, I can't vouch for weather or not the webcam and fingerprint reader will work either out-of-the-box with kubuntu or after running the System76 driver.
Some 76ers do use Kubuntu. Perhaps they can weigh in on what is involved in getting the cam and fprint reader working.

Everything seems to work however I have not checked the figerprint scanner because I couldn't care less.
Things are running pretty well with all the updates and I expect Jaunty to be even better.

I ran Kubuntu for almost 2 years on my Daru2. No real problems. You only run into support issues when you get outside of standard things, like the Altec Lansing XT1 speakers, which don't play as well under KDE as they do under Gnome.
I fell back to the standard Gnome desktop with 8.10 because KDE 4.2 and I just couldn't get along. I'm actually running a Kubuntu install with the ubuntu-desktop package installed on top of it right now because a) I'm entirely too lazy to do another reinstall and b) it really doesn't matter anyway. You could install Ubuntu, then install the kubuntu-desktop package to get a KDE desktop, which is what I did when the Daru2 first arrived on my doorstep.
Other than that, Thomas doesn't really care which desktop you're running under Ubuntu, and the support is great.
