I would recommend tremulous!
Its a first person shooter with a touch of strategy, because you have to build and maintain your base, which gives a great importance to teamwork.

Its in the repos, so installing its easy

cheers!

for Fps Games, Here is a list of the best...... in my opinion

Urban Terror
Nexiuz
OpenArena
Alien Arena
Americas Army
sauerbraten
Warsow
Padman
quake 2/3/4
Enemy Territory
Enemy Territory/Quake wars
Unreal Tournament
Prey

Thats my list of the very Best fps games on Linux. Urban terror servers always has players online, nexiuz servers aren't too bad, enemy territory/quakewars/unreal/prey are also pretty popular. Its a shame that OpenArena isn't very popular online cause its my fav out of the lot.

its not popular because the repositories (of Intrepid) has the old incompatible version.

in any case, opennexuizterrorolous of padmanwarsowuerbraten is the best fps for jaunty.

who said anything about downloading it from the repo? I always download the latest version of any game from the homepage, not the repo. its usually a .bin file. a few of the games i mentioned are awesome, such as openarena, but they are not that popular online... you will hardly ever find many people online with a decent ping... (for me anyway, Australia)
which is a shame, cause they are great games. Urban terror however always has full servers, nexiuz isn't bad online too.

Although the mod itself is not opensource Urban Terror is incredibly fun. The engine is based on a modified quake3 source so graphics are acceptable.

BTW all ID software titles work on linux. So if you are willing to pay you can play doom3, quake 4 etc...
