Hi
one of my favorite platformers is Chaotix (aka Knuckles' Chaotix, a two player cooperative platformer) for the Sega 32X.
Unfortunately every linux platformer i've played tries hard to be like Mario, and nothing more.
I hate Mario!!

Is there an open source alternative to Chaotix?

You won't find it. You know, not even SEGA did another Chaotix so your chances are close to none.

SEGA I stopped counting on since Shadow the Hedgehog, and the fact they didn't release anything on PC after Heroes. (Windows europe only releases anyhow)

Did you complete it with a friend or a sibling? Not many platformers offer a cooperative experience, especially the 'fast' ones

Why don't you use the Gens G/S emulator to run the real deal?

Because Gens doesn't emulate 32X properly. The sound emulation in it is an ear killer too

I've just tested it on Gens 2.15.5/GS-m6 and it runs just fine!

Gens' 32X emulation does need improvement, but from my experience, it's good enough for Chaotix.

One thing you'll find in Gens/GS that isn't in regular Gens is increased PWM volume (meaning that drums are actually audible in Chaotix). This feature has been implemented since Milestone 5.

The upcoming Release 7 doesn't add any 32X-specific changes, but there's general improvements in other areas of the emulator, including the new MDP plugin system.

Cool! I'm looking forward to it!
