Making music

Hi,

I don't how to look for this cause i don't know what's the term for it.

I want an application for making music, but not recording instruments, i want to be able to select any instrument and then putting notes on the timeline. Something like Hydrogen, which i really like, but Hydrogen only has drums...

Have you looked at the applications in Ubuntu Studio?

There is some information on them here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_Studio)

i don't know what a workstation means really, but Ardour can't run JACK for some reason and Rosegarden won't download. So, i can't try either one of those and all other applications from Ubuntu studio seem to be non-suitable judging by the description.

any other ideas? i'm not really "at home" yet with linux..
