Hello everyone,
I'm about to purchase a Palm Universal Wireless Keyboard (http://store.palm.com/sm-palmone-universal-wireless-keyboard--pi-1861852.html)and it looks like it doesn't come with an easy way to swtich from qwerty keyboard layout to dvorak keyboard layout. So I think I must do some
under-the-hood modifications. I'm no programmer, but in my desperation,
I'm willing to do the work.
How would you go about changing the file? What editor do i use to do
the changes? And where in the file should I look? Do you recommend that
I just dowload some freeware editor? Or will using some Palm Developer
tools be necessary or more efficient?
On an older PDA keyboard, I was able to do a manual "search-and-replace" on the keyboard binding. If I remember right, I used a hex editor. I don't know exactly how i did it, but i did change the keyboard bindings from qwerty to dvorak.
I uploaded the prc file into my website for easy downloading.
http://kb.snowflames.eml.cc/Keyboardv108.prc
I installed Palm OS Developer Suite (http://www.developerpavilion.com/palmos/xt_download.asp?download_id=220).
Opening (or to be more technical, "importing") the prc file into the
program gave less gobbledygook than opening the prc file into a hex
editor. But I stillI have no idea how to use this program to change the
keyboard bindings in the prc file (http://kb.snowflames.eml.cc/Keyboardv108.prc).
If anybody has even a bit of experience using this Palm OS Developer
suite, please give me lead me on the right path to using this program. Or if you have any experience with prc files, please help.
Thank you very very much! With your help, I can start this new year in
a very productive way!
