How to smooth the scrolling?

Howdy.

I'm using an HP laptop (dv9000, Ubuntu 8.10, 64bit), and under System > Preferences > Mouse, there's no option for how quickly the scrolling should be.

Ideally, I'd love for a very smooth scrolling, just a few pixels at a time, but I haven't experienced that yet on a computer.

Is there a plugin or tweak, or something I can do to smooth out my scrolling when using my touchpad?

Thanks. Like was stated in the second link you posted, it doesn't really solve the root of the problem, but is much closer to being better.
