I am trying toget a wireless network up and running. I am doing it myself so I learn. @ weeks of training.

Question: Is network disabled the same as disclaimed?
What is blacklisting and the command? Thanks

A1: Never seen disclaimed used in Ubuntu. Or anywhere else in a network-related situation.
A2: Q: What do you want to blacklist? From the context it sounds like a module/driver. Could you be more specific?

Thanks. I am getting the disabled message. Lets take care of that first.

I take it you mean when you click the network manager, under "Wireless Network" it says "Wireless disabled".

This is usually from a hardware switch being turned off. Sounds stupid but it does happen!
Otherwise, post the output of

lspci

and the section of

lspci -vv
that pertains to the wireless adapter.

Unclaimed? (Suggests a driver problem).
Blacklist (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=343314)
I found several more links by Googling "help.ubuntu.com blacklist"
