Hey guys, am running Jaunty Beta 6 on my wife's pc. Had it all set up good with my Geforce 6600, but my son was playing Counter Strike in Wine, had a video error, didn't tell me, and I didn't realize the video card was working 100% for 24+ hours!!! So the video card has video artifacts at all times now, so I had to switch it out for a lowly Geforce2, yuck!

I installed the new video card an activated the recommended Nvidia drivers (version 96). Now I have no title bars on any windows that open, and the Gnome notifications come up as blank white notifications. Also, some of my applets on the top toolbar have given errors. Since I have no title bars, I cannot move, close, or minimize windows with the mouse.

Does anyone recognize this issue?

Thanks

Here is an example of my problem: You can see how my users applet and sound applet are gone!

I don't know where to get all of them back, but right-clicking on the toolbar and selecting "Add to Panel" will be the best start. Then move all of your icons to the location on the toolbar you prefer. People with more in depth knowledge can help with the location of the custom ones and their icons.

Hello,
Are you using Compiz? If so try switching to Metacity to see if the problem occurs.
Press Alt + F2 to bring up the "run" window, then type:
metacity --replace
