Hello all,

I have an Asus EeePC 1000HE which came with Windoze XP and I have since installed the desktop version of Ubuntu 8.10.

Annoyingly enough, everything in Windoze is working perfectly

Ubuntu however, is not. It is connecting to the internet with a 1Mbps connection. Speakeasy speedtest will actually download that fast, but firefox, synaptic, etc all download no faster than 33kBps.

Anyway, I tried posting this on the eeepc forums and no one had any helpful ideas - something tells me that if the connection info says 1Mbps connection, it doesn't have anything to do with pipelining in firefox or the repositories set for synaptic. (not when its a wireless G connection that is.)

So, ideas anyone? I'll be very grateful for any help you can give me.

David
