Black screen on startup Dell Inspiron 1100

Hi All

I have been running 8.10 since release day. Recently on startup or update i get a black screen but i can hear startup in the background. I only way i can get up and running is by rebooting untill the login screen starts.


Dell Inspiron 1100 1GB ram 40Gb h/drive. Dvd Rw. Ubuntu 8.10

you may need to run ubuntu without desktop effects, sounds like the latest updates messed up you graphic drivers somehow
