hi there all 'buntu-ers
I am once again in possession of one of those old blue G3 imacs, the 350mhz slot loading kind. next week I have 1gb of ram arriving and I will upgrade the firmware and install xubuntu for ppc, the question I have is what can be safely removed or turned off to improve performance?
It will have an external usb dvd burner attached, and will be used for kids to play with and watch dvd's on
I will want to install the following:
gcompris
childsplay
tuxpaint
various other games (whatever looks good in the repo's)
gimp
vlc media player
and it will have a printer attached
given those needs are there any packages I can remove or processes I could disable to reduce system cost?
it will probably never be on the internet once I have finished installing and it wont ever need things like wireless or bluetooth, or any networking ability for that matter.
any advice would be appreciated
