View Full Version : [other] Burning Double Layer: Calibration Area Full

April 7th, 2009, 05:39 PM
I had a HP DVD Writer 1040e and I would get the area Calibration Area full when I tried to burn a Double layer disk. (Can't remember about single layer) I replaced the drive and my new drive is giving the same error. Just now I burned two single layer disks and it appeared to go perfectly (I will run a binary compare of the data on the disks to the original data to verify).

What is causing this?

What is the programme you are using to burn dvds?

I have tried this in Nero Linux and Nero 7 (Windows) and it gave calibration area full.

I have also used K3B and Nautilus to try and burn a data DVD and I got different errors.

Try a different (brand of) DVD-DL media.

Some media doesn't get along with some burners...

You may also want to see if there's any firmware updates available for your burner.

It worked before, I have tried to find updates but didn't have any luck.

I think the old one was 1040e, but this new one is 1040r (unless the old one was 1040r but I thought it was 1040e).

I am gonna buy a pack of DL today, but then the 40 disk spindle I have now would be useless :(

I bought a pack of Memorex DVD+R DLs and they work. Now the question is what to do with a 40 pack of Nextech DVD+R DLs....
