Can someone recommend a scanner?

I'm wondering if there is a particular model of scanner that would be best to purchase? I have a scanner right now that it unsupported and would like to make sure that any hardware I get in the future will be supported. I've done some poking around on the sane-project but don't really know what would be best.

What do you guys recommend?
