I've never had any problem with nVidia cards on Linux (or at least Ubuntu). And your title is misleading.

What he said. From what I've heard, nVidia is the best choice for Linux. I myself have an ATI Radeon X1270 and am stuck with the proprietary driver. Although it's working alright, there's some things I can't do due to lack of official driver.

BTW all, I agree his title is a bit...not on topic? However, I believe he was going for a touch of sarcasm based on the OP. It made me look! :P
