I've created a bootable Jaunty USB stick just after beta release and it works nicely. Today I can see there are a lot of updates, but I don't want to download again all package and recreate the usb stick.
Is it possible to update it directly ? I booted my PC with it, connected to internet and ran update manager. I saw 270MB to be updated. So, I unmarked all and selected only a single package to update. I went to Synaptics and I could see it was updated (I checked before and after the download). To confirm, I booted again and I realized this update was not retained. I can understand why (I think), but do you know any method to get it done ?
Is there a way to make those kind of changes persistent?

There is always a way
but sometimes it's just easier to rebuilt the usb pendrive.
you see it's a live USB memory stick
it's not the os itself its the same as a live cd just on another type of media
and it has acces to another partition to save data
as for making it persistent
http://www.pendrivelinux.com/
should contain lots of guides on doing so and many "persistent" ways

Thanks, Octon.
I agree with you, probably there's a way to do it but it'll be easier to rebuild all. Anyway, Jaunty beta is progressing fast and soon it will be ok to install.
