Just NetBeans? ;) You're talking about Sun, which has many many more products than just NetBeans.

The situation could turn out UNSAFE for Sun, if they are in financial strife and IBM won't buy them out.

I see only NetBeans as a problem for IBM as they are on the Eclipse side. The rest (Niagara, VirtualBox, MySQL, Java, ZFS,.., perhaps Glassfish) seems to fit well into the IBM portfolio, so no worries there.

There are some mismatches

Sun's MySQL vs IBM's DB2
Sun's solaris vs IBM's AIX
Sun's Glass Fish (Sun App server) vs Webspare
Etc...

IBM and Sun are the two biggest players in the enterprise software market and competitors to one another (Oracle are up there to). Anyway IF (and it doesnt look like it will) this deal goes through it will be subject anti trust scrutiny by those far more qualified than us.

Actually I dont. But they do know more than me about this I would think? I hope they do :lolflag:

FYI, looks like the deals off.

I have so little faith in monopolistic trusts that anything that breaks them up is a good thing, regardless of competence ;)
