Animation

I would like to check out doing animation on my desktop....can someone tell me how to get there...I know...I know...If I can't find this I shouldn't be screwing around with animation..I just need to knoe how to get to it to look...

Do you mean by animations, do you mean desktop effects like compiz were the windows whiz around your desktop, or would like to be an animator and make 3d cartoons and the likes?

If you are talking about creating 3D animations, than install Blender.
