mythtv version: 0.21.0+fixes18722-0ubuntu1

My problem:
I started an update but disconnected the monitor during it. Afterwards, whenever mythtv is launched, the screen is vertically split in half and heavily distorted. THe screen returns to normal after a few seconds after closing it.
I've run dpkg-reconfigure mythtv-frontend, and dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg, both did no help.
