Use Devede in Add/Remove (all available application)
Be sure you got all the codec installed:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
and Mplayer.
Install codec first and Mplayer, then install Devede.

Ringi, I want to do the same--burn mp4 files onto a DVD. I have the DeVeDe program, under file I click open and the box with load a disc structure appears. At the bottom right is a box with .devede and up and down arrows. Moving the cursor over this I see 'selects which types of files are shown". There is no option for mp4 files so I cannot open them in the program. Could you help me?

Have you try WinFF?

Sorry, Ringi. There is no option besides .devede There is no all files option. I'm not sure why. The program opens and doesn't seem corrupted. It is listed under Applications and Sound and Video. Any more ideas?
If this doesn't work I suppose I can try another program as suggested--WinFF
