I compiled KDE 3.4b1 in my Gentoo chroot last night. It's still a bit buggy (duh, beta), but it's starting to show great promise. HAL support even. Hopefully, it goes final before Hoary's released, and it's included in Hoary.

Nice, I'm compiling right now.
I'm just wondering what HAL support means specifically, has the KDE Volume Manager made it into the release?

Yeah, KDE 3.4 looks like it's going to be pretty sweet. the new QT looks promising.

as soon as you upgrade to Hoary, you'll get KDE 3.4rc1.

It is good to see that KDE users are getting the benefits of HAL now.
