View Full Version : [ubuntu] OpenOffice 3.0 fails to launch on 8.10, Gnome

I upgraded my Dell desktop (running Gnome) from Ubuntu 8.04 to 8.10 yesterday, and followed it by upgrading OpenOffice from 2.4.x to 3.0. Everything worked fine.

But this morning the computer had shut itself down, and when I restarted I can't get OpenOffice to launch. Double-clicking on a file has no effect, nor does typing "openoffice" in a terminal window.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

CS

You may be re-install openoffice with apt-get autoremove openoffice and instal.

Create a new user and log in again. Then try starting openoffice and if you get no problems then you should delete the openoffice settings folder in your home folder.

Thanks for the ideas. I restarted the computer and it seems to work now, but if I have more problems I will try out your suggestions.
