I just acquired an HP Proliant server, with 5 750s in the hard drive array. Am wanting to configure it with some expertise this time, not guessing.
Can anyone recommend how I should allocate the following?
I want to mirror the first two drives via onboard RAID.
The 3rd and 4th drive I believe I have to apply a software RAID, as I want to mirror them.
Meaning I would have first bundle managing the boot and essentially everything under /.
The second bundle would be a separate file system to contain photo images.
The 5th drive would be used for, well, I don't know yet.
Does this sound reasonable, and if yes, how would one configure this? I essentially want two drives in the mix, both mirrored, and not sure what to do with the 5th drive...
Would I use LVM for instance?
Any advice would be most helpful.
