so i was just thinking

while yall are busy giving people eye cancer and all, why dont you make a dark color scheme?

one to keep i mean (as like an alternative to the original)

i have wanted a dark ubuntu forums for a long time now

i have even tried a few userscripts i found but they all seem so ugly to me

so i propose that you should make a darker forums

maybe dark grey or something

take a look at the alternate arch fourms color scheme, see how its nice and dark and easy on the eyes

something along those lines would look awesome (except with ubuntu colors instead of blue)

I second that. I usually browse here at work and a darker theme would be nice, since that beige color scheme is the same as the wall in here.

I third this.

Maybe even make it look like "DarkRoom." One of the themes that comes with Ubuntu.

Well, maybe they could keep both themes, and users could choose their favorite in the user control panel. I've seen lots of forums that do this, and it keeps everyone pretty happy. We should try this before we do a site-wide change. If people like it, then they can ask for it to be the default theme.

This would probably be the best forum theme of all time:

In fact, it wouldn't be such a bad default color scheme for Ubuntu, either.

I agree. I love darker colors, and they are just easier on my eyes in my dim lit room.

I would also value a dark theme.

One thing I like to do is to invert the colors using compiz using the Negative plugin.

Really makes the forum look neat.

(searches for the screenshot I posted in The Banning Game a while back...)
Bummer. Gone with the thread :(

Best would be a theme-switcher and give people a few themes to choose from.

It's not mandatory for you to wait, you can use the color of your choice modifying the css sheet (user side) through firefox extension.
e.g. :
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=18322

I'm sure that if you search a bit you might found someone who already did a custom user side css sheet for ubuntuforums.

i finally got around to making a custom user style for ubuntu forums

its far from perfect, but i think its much better then many others i have tried

to use, just install the stylish firefox add-on and download the style from here (jsut click load into stylish)
