I think it is broken:

The first time I installed Google Gadgets it worked, despite a lot of bugs. Then the first time I reboot it simply didn't show up anymore. So I removed the application and tried to install it again, but now I get a error message.

Package google-gadgets is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

So, I guess we have to wait for a new version.

Try Alt+F2 and then type in ggl-gtk then click run and see if that doesn't open up google gadgets.I had the same problem still does show up in the apps menu i guess we will have to wait for a new version.
