Xubuntu Sound Issues

I just started using a Dell mini 9 and decided to switch from Ubuntu to Xubuntu. Everything works fine except it is not outputting any sound. How can I get the sound to work?

You probably already did this, but since no one else is replying I'll suggest it anyway and at the very least your issue will get a bump.

Did you go to Applications>Settings>Settings Manager and then click on Sound? Under Sound make sure that the correct controls are checkmarked and then make sure that your sound device is the one currently being used.

Thanks for the post, but that didn't help. I think it might be an issue with the driver. I followed this tuturial, but got a lot of error messages when i tried to compile the Alsa driver.
