Hello,

Thanks for all the work you guys do for the forums.

I have a suggestion: I would be very nice to be able to star/bookmark/favorite a particular post or a whole thread. For instance, if I peruse a long thread and finally find a single post that has extremely useful info/commands in it, I'd like to be able to star that post. Then, when I'm back at my home pc, I could login and view my starred posts to retrieve the instructions/information that I previously found.

I'm just saying "star" and "starred" because that's what gmail calls it, but you could call it whatever.

Is this a good idea or has it already been done?

Thanks,
jt

Just above the top post in a thread, click to open the Thread Tools menu, and from there subscribe to the thread.

Then, the thread will always be available from your User Control Panel (User CP near the top left, under the Ubuntu logo).

yeah, i use the subscribe feature already. i guess my idea was focused more on individual posts, so that when you are browsing a thread 60 pages deep you can star the posts that are important to you and forget about the rest. otherwise, you will have to navigate the whole thread over again to find that post.

is this possible?

You see that #3 in the top right hand corner of your post? That link is a perminant link to that post so you can use that url for a perminant linking?

yeah that could work. now is there a way to save that inside the forum construct, so if I'm browsing the forum at work, when I come home, i can login and find that post?

(not that I browse the forums at work)
