I am trying to install AWN...

I have spent the past two hours trying to do this and I GIVE UP !!!!!!

GRRRR! Its driving me nuts! Someone help me!

I have followed the instructions, I am so close, but it tells me to install gtk-doc!

If I do:

sudo apt-get install gtk-doc

Which the terminal itself told me to do, it says package not found or something! So I download it, but now I can't get it to configure here is the output from terminal:

ben@ben-laptop:~/awn/avant-window-navigator-0.2.6/gtk-doc-1.0$ ./configure

All solved :D

Now I just need some decent theme for AWN, and a theme that matches my AWN theme, at the moment it looks a bit rubbish, so some suggestions would be great :D.

My desktop is below:

Evidently you need to have some sort of jade/openjade package. Search in Synaptic for it.

Also... are you trying to compile AWN?

Hey Ben! I open Synaptic package manager, install AWN from it, and here you go! You must be trying to do something obscure for it to cause problems, I bet!

Hay!! This is my current desktop setup for awn.

Framing you wallpaper with a black bottom and using black for the taskbar really make awn stand out more.

Hope it's of some help!

Wow, nice :D.

How can you get shortcuts to programs on there btw?

And my AWN shows over my windows, I have ticked the box which says keep under maximised windows... But it doesnt!

I customised mine a little here is it now:

Thanks!! Im working on a design for the next release of Ubuntu so im into the whole modding thing at the moment! :D

To make a shortcut all you have to do is to drag a program icon down to the edge of the awn dock bar and it should automatically be added to the edge. If you want to change its positions then go into the properties and you should have and option for launchers. In there just move it to where you want.

Not sure about the thing not minimising. I have some problems with that not happening too but when i move my courser over it it will usually work again... Ill take a look into it though.

Wow, awesome :D:D:D!

I've learnt alot about changing the appearance of AWN recently, but i'm glad i've finally got those launchers sorted thanks to you. I've actually learnt alot about customising ubuntu in general, i'm working on several login themes atm, so keep watching my sig for links ;).

Anyway thanks again for all your help,
Ben
