Good day,

I'm seeking an Ubuntu LiveCD that will remove/detect Conficker on Microsoft systems.

Another option would be a good piece of software for Ubuntu that removes/detects that I can package with my own LiveCD build. I currently use UBCD4win. It is clunky, ugly and hard to add new software.

Any guidance will be appreciated.

Fixing MS problems with Ubuntu LiveCD, priceless.

Thanks,

DS6

I don't think you can remove/detect Conflicker with a LiveCD because you first need to patch your Windows system (if it is unpatched) and then you need to run an anti-virus software to scan for it.

I've found the best way to get rid of all Windows viruses is to hit the install button on the LiveCD desktop.

Now see there - an easy way to fix the virus. Just as the OP asked. Good advice.

Oh dude, if you manage to catch it, can you put it in a chest, zip it, and send it to me?

I really wanna look over the code of that thing.
randomized loopback and processor epi stepping, whoever made that thing, is one hell of a programmer.

This won't help with removing Conficker, but just in case anyone missed it, you can check for the "likely" presence of Conficker on hosts using the new beta of NMAP: http://insecure.org/#conficker

The live CD will remove conficker with no problem at all. Just click on install and select use whole drive. Problem solved.

Hmm, I see there are enough smartypants answers already...

The best way to fix Windows, is with a Windows 'Live CD' called BartPE:

You can make this CD with your favourite Windows repair tools on it, eg. ClamAV, Hijackthis and Spybot Search and Destroy.

Wow, for a Wintool this seems really slick. I have used a bunch of them and this looks better. It looks like it might even work.
