Laptop Fan Replacements

I think I need to replace 2 fans on my laptop. Firstly, I've never run this laptop on windows, do you guys think that ubuntu could be keeping these fans from running? There are two cpu fans and one secondary fan. Only one cpu fan is running.

If they need to be replaced. I can only find the fans online that are used and they are very pricey for what they are. I checked on the hp's website and I cannot buy the parts from them. Is there a cheaper way to get these (or equivalent) fans cheaper? I refuse to pay 50 dollars for a 1" fan!

If you can access the fans easily, hook them up to a 12V sources and see if the run.

Unfortunately getting to them requires disassembling the whole laptop. I will eventually do this, but I don't have adequate enough time currently.
