I installed kde-core on a fresh Jaunty [Ubuntu] beta install, along with gtk-qt-engine, but Firefox 3.0.8 running a KDE 4.2.1 session is ugly. Synaptic Package Manager looks fine, but other GTK apps don't. Would appreciate help with Firefox (screenshot included); thanks.

try kde/qt-curve.
don't forget to install gtk2-engine-qt-curve
NOTE: those aren't correct package names so find them yourself

Did as you said, but the "GTK Styles and Fonts" applet in System Settings does not retain user-selected settings.
Edit: it works if you run Firefox as root, however.
