Using the Network proxy settings of Ubuntu I have set up all my programs to use a proxy server.
Now sometimes I need to use VLC to watch local media streams but with proxy enabled it is unable to connect. The only way is to reset the entire proxy settings of the system , restart and then use VLC.
Is there any way of starting VLC with proxy disabled without affecting the system settings.

My VLC version is 0.9.4.

I am facing a similar issue, is there a single point where I can configure all my proxy settings (like windows allows?). This is quite frustrating.
