Compiz, AWN, and Emerald just stopped working

I have had Compiz, AWN,and Emerald working now for a while now with the ATI Catalyst 9.2 drivers. I went to restart my computer, which I have to do from time to time as I lose internet connection(A whole different story that I have come to accept) and I got the error:
"Error: Screen isn't composited. Please run compiz (-fusion) or another compositing manager."

I then went to Appearances and visual effects. It shows that that "none" are chosen. I tried to pick extras like I had before, but it said searching for available drivers and desktop effects could not be enabled.
I also can't open my Catalyst Control Center anymore.
Does anyone know what's going on?

Did you get a kernel update?
If so you may need to reinstall the driver.

If you do not remove all previous ati or nvidia proprietary drivers before installing a new one you will have this problem.
