I have a laptop with a small 120gb HDD, I was wondering if it would be possible to install linux onto an external USB HDD for duel boot with windows on the internal HDD.

Last time I tried I wasnt sure where to install the MBR because if I installed it to my computer, when i booted up without the external HDD it would fail to load grub. If i install to the external HDD it doesnt even try to boot linux, it boots right to windows.

any comments or suggestions?

feedback appreciated ^.^ thanks in advnace.

You should be able to find a way to do what you want here.
