Ok, I plan on building a computer over the next few months and wanted to see if my idea is ever possible.
What I want to do is purchase three HDD's. Two will be in RAID 1 for my everyday computing uses. Then, I wanted to use the third as a home server type thing. What I want check is if I were to install Ubuntu on the third HDD and use it as a home FTP server, would my roommates and I be able to access it even though I'm not using it for computing? Hope that's not confusing.
I guess since I won't have Ubuntu loaded as my OS when using the PC I'm wondering if we would be able to FTP to it, even though no OS is loaded/running on that HDD. Thanks.
