Hi all,

I have just installed Ubuntu 8.10 and there is a question comes up like this. What are actually installed if I choose the installation size as 8GB, 10GB or 30GB, repectively?

I chose to intall Ubuntu inside Windows and selected 30GB for the installation size. It is however doesn't make sense with the appearance of a 28-GB-file "root.disk" in the "disks" directory. Can anyone please explain what is going on in this file and what is a recommended installation file that gives Ubuntu enough functionalities?

Thanx,

the main ubuntu installation does not require more than 4gb hard disk space. 30 gb was plenty big to handle a ton of updates, and storage room. The reason you only see 28gb, in theory is that ubuntu sets up a swap file/partiton by default, it is possible that it is a 2 gb partition. The swap partition would not be viewable under windows.
