Hello, I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid. I have a "Creative Labs SB Audigy LS" and would like to buy one of these two speakers(5.1 surround), Logitech G51/Logitech X-540

I would like to know if there will be any problems setting them up with ubuntu. I am currently using speakers that cost me about 10 3 years ago.
Would it work with pulseaudio? It's not too important if it doesn't, I'd just prefer it. I can live with using alsa directly.

I am no sound pro, so would like to know roughly how much trouble it would be to set up.

Could someone with experience tell me what the advantages of the G51 are over the X-540? I am thinking of going for the X-540 as they are cheaper, unless there is a good reason. I would like to use the speakers for watching movies.

I can't promise anything, but i have had a set of Logitech Z5500 5.1 speakers working perfectly since Ubuntu 8.04 without any changes to default install.. Whether that is using Pulse or Alsa I have no idea! In Volume Control I can adjust Front, Surround and Center speaker volumes..

Thanks for your reply, I think the Z5500 are a bit out of my price range. It's good to hear that the setup was easy.
