Switching back to Ubuntu Studio? Advice needed!

I currently dual boot between Opensuse 11.0 and 64Studio. Great distributions. However, I'm getting a bit sick of rebooting everytime I want to record/practice music.

I used to have Ubuntu Studio 7.10. I got too many x-runs, which led me to my current situation.

Now I"m thinking of switching back to Ubuntu Studio, to have the benefit of a fully functional desktop (like OpenSuse 11.0) and a stable recording environment (like 64 Studio).

How is the latest version of Ubuntu Studio? Should I wait for 9.04? Should I be concerned with the realtime kernel?

My current rig is an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400, 2GB RAM, 750GB HD space.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

8.10 has some pretty big issues with the RT kernel, either stay with 8.04 or wait for 9.04

Thank you for the response, I guess I'll see what 8.04 has to offer. and if 9.04 is good, just reinstall that when it comes out.
