I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 with an Intel 82801DB/DBL/DBM sound card.
Programs like Sound Recorder, Amarok, Totem and Rythembox only work half the time, the other times, they say there playing, but it doesn't do anything, the slider thing doesn't move, and for movies it doesn't play.
A restart sometimes fixes it, but not always.
Any ideas, this is really bugging me as I do YouTube videos, and need to be able to tell if the volume is loud enough.
I'm using Ubuntu 8.04
