March 25th, 2009, 07:08 PM
Hiya all, I am currently running ubuntu 8.10 and have for the last few months been using my Sony Ericsson k800i Mobile phone to connect to the internet via usb cable (this is free as part of my contract)

This worked as soon as i plugged it in.

I received a the new Sony Ericsson C905 a couple of days ago hoping this would do the same....but it doesnt!

I am able to access all the files on the phone as soon as its plugged in so it is detecting the phone.

The name of the phone also appears under the network manager and is listed under terminal when I type lsusb.

When i click for network manager to connect it tries....and comes up on the phone sayin connecting to 2g/3g but this then stops and says connection failed check settings.

The internet is working on the handset and my old phone still works when i plug it in.

Any help much appreciated.

you need to enable internet usb in the phone. I've got a k630i and after doing it all woked.

Go to settings --> connectivity --> USB

think its a driver issue...I have it working under winblowz on my gf's laptop so the problem lies in ubuntu.
