View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu 8.10 64-bit doesn't recognize video camera

I'm using a two-year old JVC MiniDV video camera--first time with Ubuntu--and I cannot upload my video. (I do not have firewire on my Acer Aspire laptop--just USB). The various video editing programs I've tried in Ubuntu 8.10 (64-bit) are not seeing a "source" to import from, and I suspect it's because Ubuntu isn't seeing a connection when I turn my camera on to upload.

Am I stuck here, assuming I can't upload because Ubuntu doesn't recognize my attached video camera, or is there a workaround? I've visited the various Web sites for some of video editing programs offered through Synaptic and Add/Remove programs, but no luck there.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
