Hi, I am going to udgrade my laptops HD to a 500gb HD from a 160 GB HD..

I have a question about this though, if I take my old HD and then put it into an enclosure, would I be able to load my current settings with ubuntu etc from the old HD to the new one without having to re-intall Ubuntu and my Wireless card, restricted extras etc...?

I am just looking to make this as easy of a process as possible, anybody with more experience than me with this got an idea of how this works?

IF you copy your /home directory to another device, all settings will be saved, but you will have to install video and wireless drivers over again, not to mention all the software you had installed. You will have all the Firefox bookmarks retained, all newsgroup (for example) headers saved, etc.
