I'm new to linux and I wondered if there are any CAD 3D programs for Ubuntu/Kubuntu?

Although not really qualifying as a CAD ( I don't think ) - Blender 3D deserves a mention. It's available in the packages list, and, put quite simply, it's great.

I you want to do some serious CAD stuff then Linux is just no option.
I think the best which is available on Linux is QCad (http://www.ribbonsoft.com/qcad.html) but that's only 2d.
