View Full Version : [ubuntu] Incorrect toolbar positioning

Having tried (so far without success) to install the nVidia display driver, at some point in switching between the 'low res graphics' mode that the system started in and the 1280 x 800 'full' screen display, some of the 'std' toolbar icons seem to think that the screen is still the smaller size (800 x 600).

As you can see in the attached screen shot, the waste basket and shutdown icons are no longer at the correct edge of the screen.

The network mgr, power, sound and date/time icons were at the far edge but I have been able to drag them back to the left of the shutdown area.

Does anyone know where these settings are stored, or how I might be able to reset the 'correct' screen size please?

To answer your question about where these settings are stored, see:

Note that in the path given in that post, my "home" directory was a little different (not just USER name was different).

As far as moving those shutdown & recycling bin icons around, I was able to move them but I first had to right-click them, and unselect "lock to panel." Then I could right-click again, select "move," and move them where I wanted to.

Thank you. The right click worked for me too.:)

I had found the unlock option, but hadn't seen/realised there was a move option.

However, I'm not sure how I would access/change their positions using the file though. It doesn't appear to include everything, but it is difficult to understand its contents.:(
