The fonts Nautilus is using are huge! Some applications like Brasero have large fonts too. Anyone else seeing this?

It's a bug. You can change it by going to:

SYSTEM > PREFERENCES > APPEARANCE > FONTS

And adjust from 13.333 to 10 (or your preferred size)

A bug? There was a report about the font being to LARGE when it was set to 10. The "fix" to that bug was apperently to increase the fontsize.

I added to the bug report. The importance for this bug has been set to "High", so I am sure it will be fixed.

Thanks olskar, for posing a link to the bug report.

really annoying change, that to 13,333...

imo, one of the reasons ubuntu looks ugly by default, specially on laptops is because of the size 10 fonts, i wonder if that will ever change.

Same problem here and the default font almost seems like bold (and bold seems like extra super bold) for some of the applications.

Do not change back to 10.

The 13.3 is NECESSARY for Firefox 3.1/3.5 to work properly at the moment.

I don't understand, surely having font set at 13.333 can't be part of the fix?

I just installed shiretoko and it doesnt seem to be bad, im using liberation sans at size 8, though.

according to asac:

"we changed default for gnome fonts from 10 (point) to 13.333px"

Default size 13.333?! Holy crap...that's one of the most stupid things I've ever seen. Honestly, they must be joking!

I think so too, because that's a very large font size :-s

13.333 pixels. Not 13 pt.

So the bug is that software thinks it is 13 pt when it should see it as 13 pixels?

well, i think the font size is unrelated to the issues with firefox3.5 and subpixel rendering though. at least, the font seems fine no matter the size
